Conference by Warren Perrin
On October 24th, 2014 Warren Perrin gave a conference at the law faculty of the Université de Moncton on the status of French language in Louisiana and the Royal Proclamation of 2003. For fifteen years Perrin spearheaded a campaign to compel Queen Elizabeth II of England to acknowledge and apologize for the Acadians’ expulsion. He began researching the issue from a historical and legal perspective, and in January, 1990, with the support and urging of many, Perrin presented a Petition on behalf of the Acadian people to the British government and Crown, seeking an apology for the deportation of the Acadians in 1755. Perrin merged his efforts with the Société Nationale de l'Acadie and on December 9, 2003 this hard work successfully resulted in a Royal Proclamation issued by Canada and signed the Governor General at the time, and July 28th was decreed as the annual Day of Commemoration of the Acadian Deportation.

The First Worldwide Congress of Language Rights, Teramo, Italy
The First Worldwide Congress of Language Rights will take place in Teramo, Italy, from the 19th to the 23rd of May 2015. This Congress will include de facto the XIV International Conference of the International Academy for the Linguistic Law about law and language and the IX Days of Language Rights. Besides the IALL and the Associazione LEM-Italia, this event is sponsored by the scientific partnership made up of the European Observatory for Plurilinguism, the International Observatory on Language Rights, the Group of Linguistic Politics of the Italian linguistic Society, the DORIF-University, the Eurolinguistics' network and several worldwide Universities, in particular the University of Teramo, which will host the Congress. The director has been invited as a keynote speaker.

Publication of the 3rd edition of Les droits linguistiques au Canada (Language Rights in Canada)
On January 16th, 2014 the third edition of Les droits linguistiques au Canada (Language Rights in Canada) was made public at a book launch held in the Hall of the Supreme Court of Canada. Two other book launches followed: on January 21st at the Law Faculty of the Université de Moncton, and on March 19th in Barcelona at the symposium held by the International Association of Language Commissioners.
The book was well received and the directors are proud of the work done by everyone involved in its making. After its publication, many expressed the wish to see it one day also published in English. The Observatory is doing everything it can for that wish to come true so that both official languages communities of the country, as well as native communities who, for the main part, have English as a first or second language, have access to it.
