Reply to a call for expression of interest. The Conseil Européen pour les Langues/European Language Council is a permanent and independent association, whose main aim is the quantitative and qualitative improvement of knowledge of the languages and cultures of the European Union and beyond.
The association was officially launched in July 1997 by a group of leading European universities and associations with the support of the European Commission. Membership is open to all institutions of higher education and all national, European and international associations with a special interest in languages.

The ELC has initiated a number of Special Interest Groups. The latest one will examine issues linked to assessment and multilingual competence. A call for expression of interest has been published on the web site of the association and is open until 31 March 2010.
